Great Year for the Habitat and Wild Life
Starting off this year we had a lot of rain, which gave the crops a great boost. We roughly planted 500 acres of corn, 300 in wheat, replanted all of our food plots, put in some new switch grass, and also put in a new 2 new tree groves. Wheat harvesters have moved into the area and are averaging 60 to 90 bushels per acre. Pheasants are thick as always, Curt has had to replant the food plots out back behind the lodge 4 different times this year. Corn is doing great throughout the region. Some farmers had troubles getting it in on time because the amount of rain we had this Spring, but the rain we have received this Summer has made corn grow over 6' already.
All and all we couldn't ask for a better year so far. The pheasant population is looking great for hunting season. We have seen numerous amounts of little chicks and when wheat harvest season is over it will truly show us how many pheasants we will have for the Fall. If your a big waterfowl hunter, the number of ducks is outstanding. Once again the rain has provided us a soon to be great hunting season.
