Here is a small clip from the new shop. This last weekend was quite the unexpected with bad weather that had came through. Three days of storms, producing heavy rain, strong winds, hail and tornados around the country. Fortunate to say we had very little damage if any, just small hail but strong winds with a lot of rain. Over the last 3 days the total rain fall came up to 3.75". With as much rain as we have recieved this last month may cause a small loss of nests from ducks and pheasants. But with it being early enough, they will rebuild they nest and start all over again until at least one chick or duckling is hatched.
Warmer weather will be moving in this next week with a few windy days. Hopefully with this weather it will dry up some of our crop grounds and get us back into the field. Keep up to date with us.

This Spring has been great for GrandSlam Pheasant Hunts. With decent amount of rainfall over a period of time to finally getting in the field, things are looking good. Just this last week, we got all of our equipment set up and started planting corn in the fields. We had 80 acres into the ground before the rain held us up. In the last few days we have got close to an inch of rain with more to come here in the next two days.
Dogs are doing great as well as the puppies. We still have 3 females puppies left over from our litter in the middle of Feb. If anyone is interested please give us a call at the lodge 605-778-6789 and ask for Curt or Lorie. Thanks again,

Finally within the last few days we got moisture back into the ground. The total rain at Grandslam Pheasant Hunts was close to around 3". Lakes and ponds should fill up nicely around here. Now we are going to need just a little heat to get back into the field and start planting some crops!

605-680-1777This 2012 Spring at GrandSlam Pheasant Hunts has to be one of the most memorable since we have ever started. With one of the mildest winters we have ever seen all wildlife is doing great. There is still plenty of moisture in the ground with the last couple of rains we recieved recently. But with warm weather on the verge things could change dramaticly. This week some of the highs for temps will be in the mid 70s to even low 80s. Record high for this time of the year is 74 degrees.
Here at GrandSlam Pheasant Hunts we strive to make our ground the best it can be for all wildlife. We are currently in the process of updating our water wells, and will have them running for all wildlife throughout most of the spring and into late summer. Also this weekend we plan on burning old grass fields witch will help put nutrients back into ground and provide better nesting and cover. One other event we plan on doing this Spring, is filling in our large cedar groves where trees have died over the rough winters we have had. Then soon enough we will be working in the fields again setting up new acres for native grasses and then off to planting our crops.
Keep up with us here at Grandslam Pheasant Hunts and see what new improvements we are making throughout the year!
The Grand Slam Prairie is a place where camaraderie with your wing shooter companion can be very memorable. As our gracious and vigorous British labs work the lush cover of the prairie you will experience thunderous pheasants filling the sky.
Well here at GrandSlam Pheasant Hunts it has finally snowed in late February. All wildlife is doing great in this dry mild winter that we are having. The last couple of days we have finally got a lot of moisture put back into the ground. More rain than snow witch is a great thing.
As before, Katie and the puppies are all doing well. There are 7 females and 3 males. For the rest of the dogs they are enjoying the great winter weather as well, being able to play outside more often with the nice weather.
